CLT to MEX

Exploring CDMX

Charlotte

We had a fairly early flight out of CLT and were able to breeze right through security. This allowed us some time to chill and explore the new terminal.

Arriving in CDMX

After arriving in Mexico City around noon, we were dropped off at our hotel. Surprisingly, our hotel room was ready so we could chill a little bit. Our room had an amazing view of a painted cinderblock wall, but it was nice, clean, and a good spot to relax.

Exploring a little

Now that we were rested a little, we headed out to explore. About a 20 minute walk away were most of the biggest museums in Mexico City. We stopped for a quick torta and watched a performance of The Dance of the Flyers. The National Museum of Anthropology is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico and they had a great photographic exhibit so we decide to start there. The museum is full of monumental stone sculptures, of which the most famous is the Aztec Calendar, commonly known as the “Sun Stone.”

Dinner

After chilling out a little more, we head to dinner at Em. Em serves contemporary Mexican cuisine with Japanese influences. We had the tasting menu and wine pairing. Laurie explored a little and tried a few things that she had not tried before. The food was interesting and well executed. After dinner we were tired so we decided to take an Uber back to the hotel. It is crazy that the safest option in most cities is calling up a random stranger to take you places.
