Puebla Day 2
Baroque Museum
We had the day to ourselves today. So, we slept a little later and slowly got ready since things don’t open until 10 o’clock in Puebla. Our first stop of the day was the Museum of the Baroque Arts. We promised to get some photos for Thaddeus of the Toyo Ito designed building, plus it looked like an interesting museum to visit. The exhibits could stand up to any of the best museums elsewhere in the world. Matt had to get registered to use his “big” camera. Which basically meant signing a piece of paper and wearing a sticker of a camera.

lunch & Exploring Puebla
After a few hours visit at the museum we headed to the one taco place our guide said we must visit before leaving town. It is a small shop know for its “Arab” or “Oriental (in Spanish)” tacos. It offers tacos with shawarma meat served in a pita instead of a tortilla. It has been in Puebla since 1933 and is considered to be the place that brought this style of tacos to Mexico from Lebanon. They modified the original recipe from lamb to pork since lamb was hard to come by.
After lunch we decided to explore the artists quarter and Biblioteca Palafoxiana, a library established in the 17th century that houses books dating back to the 15th century.Â

dinner
After a short rest to catch up from the heat of the day, we met our tour guide for dinner at a restaurant on the main square of town. Then it was early to bed as we have a 6 am departure time in the morning.
