Teotihuacan & Puebla

Puebla

Teotihuacan

Today was mainly a travel day so after a quick breakfast in the hotel, it was time to head to Puebla with a stop at Teotihuacan along the way. At its height, Teotihuacan was the largest city in the Americas, with a population of at least 25,000, but has been estimated at 125,000 or more, making it at least the sixth-largest city in the world during its history. After visiting Teotihuacan we stopped to visit an artisan family that crafts with obsidian. They showed their crafts and how obsidian was used to view the sun and the solar eclipse. While there we tasted a few different variations of mezcal, local jellies, and snacks. We then drove a short distance to enjoy lunch at a local family’s house. They served us a nice lunch of soup and enchiladas. Their dog was very friendly and made a point to visit each person. We learned the dog decided it wanted to live with the family. Their fence door was open and it came in and never left again.

puebla Orientation

It took about 2.5 hours after lunch to arrive in Puebla. Our hotel was very interesting. Along with the room key, we were given remote controls for the TV and air conditioner. I guess they have had issues in the past. We have never seen that before anywhere else. After a quick rest, we went on a quick orientation walk to visit the main square, a couple of local cathedrals, and other areas of note. Finally, we finished the night with a short walk and dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the square
